AdvantaClean of Cary/Apex, Your Triangle’s Indoor Air Specialists

john Kasawa acDuring October through March here in the Triangle, it is an obvious fact that people spend much more time indoors.  The average American spends about 86% of the day indoors during the winter.  This means that the quality of the air we breathe indoors is one of the largest factors affecting our health throughout the cooler seasons.  The indoor air needs to be clean and free of toxins, so that we can continue to function properly while spending more time inside.

AdvantaClean of Cary/Apex is the number one air quality specialist in the Triangle.  For any type of building, from homes to apartment buildings, office spaces to commercial structures like malls and hospitals, AdvantaClean of Cary/Apex can provide premium quality assessment and control for indoor air no matter the setting.

Air quality in the home is extremely important, especially when children are involved.  Any pollutants in the air a child breathes during developmental stages can be problematic in the form of respiratory degradation or other complications.  Even for a household with no children, lowered air quality can cause sickness and a general feeling of weakness for those who live there.

In a commercial setting, especially highly trafficked spaces like malls, the number of people affected by the air quality on a day to day basis can be endless.  In a hospital or nursing home, where inhabitants may already have lowered immunity, the quality of air is absolutely crucial.

Here are three services AdvantaClean of Cary/Apex can provide to improve air quality:

  • Air Duct Cleaning: A thorough cleaning of all air system components should be done at least once a year, if not more often.
  • Mold Testing and Removal:  Mold, even in mild form, can cause breathing problems. An inspection can be done to estimate the amount of mold within a building.  If mold is found, a removal may be necessary.
  • Water Damage Restoration:  If not cleaned up quickly, water damage can lead to major issues in air quality.

Air quality is not something to be taken lightly; but it is something that can be managed. Call AdvantaClean of Cary today to schedule a walkthrough of any building for a risk assessment, and start breathing better now!

Eliminate Dryer Vent Danger Today with AdvantaClean of Cary & Apex!

dryer_vent_cleaningMany people do not know that dryer vents pose a serious threat to homes, apartment buildings, businesses or office buildings in the form of a greatly increased risk of fire damage.  Buildings which house electric dryers (as opposed to gas dryers) are 250% more likely to experience a fire due to dirty and clogged vents.  But this does not mean fires do not happen in gas dryers. Maintenance and care are critical strategies that can prevent catastrophe in commercial and residential clothes dryers.

A clothes dryer by design creates an excessive amount of heat, which means there are components within the dryer itself that can experience extreme temperatures.  Considering the types of fabrics that go into a dryer, it is easy to see how important safety really is with continued use.

The most likely area for the possibility of fire is always within the vents.  These vents can amass a buildup of fine flammable materials over an extended period of time and usage.  If not cleaned regularly, these vents full of combustible lint can quickly turn into a problem if not cleaned on a regular basis.

There are four ways to identify whether the vents in a dryer need to be cleaned:

  • Clothing is still wet after the drying cycle.
  • The dryer feels exceptionally hot to the touch during or after the cycle.
  • There is an Increase in the energy bill.
  • Clothes have a “musty” smell when they are removed from the dryer.

These four are key indicators that a dryer is failing due to lack of ventilation.  If a clogged vent is allowed to remain unattended, chances of the unit failing will increase dramatically, and chances of a fire will increase as well.

Four important possibilities for reducing a dryer’s fire risk in a home or business are:

  • Make sure to clean the lint screen before (and after) every load!
  • Replace any outdated white vinyl venting immediately with an approved aluminum vent system.
  • Call AdvantaClean of Cary and Apex AT LEAST once a year to schedule an annual professional vent cleaning!  Heavily used dryers should be cleaned even more frequently.

Do not let a perfectly good dryer go to waste for something as simple as a dirty vent.  And do not let the same easy fix be the cause of a residential or commercial fire either!  Call AdvantaClean of Cary and Apex and have this issue resolved properly by trained professionals.
